Baseball and Softball

Skills to be learned and practice during the fourth day camp
Description:
Using our progressional curriculum, our
sport-specific staff will ensure your young athlete will gain the technical
skills & sport knowledge required for their next step into soccer. Designed for
intermediate players 6-16, this camp focuses on dribbling, passing, shooting,
and ball control. By the end of the camp your child will have learned new life
skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship, made new friends and improved their
sport skills preparing them to play for the playground or league play!
Ability:
The Intermediate ability level is a comprehensive camp that focuses on developing a young player by refining
his or her skills. These camps are taught through fast-paced drills, skill-building exercises, and game-speed
scrimmages in a more competitive environment. Emphasis is placed on mastering the rules and etiquette. The
player needs to have a basic understanding of the game and its skills.
What the camper needs to bring: Soccer gear and shoes. All the other soccer equipment and liquids are provided.

Watercolor Painting
Through simple techniques, anyone can learn the art of
watercolor. This class will guide you through the basics such as
materials used and techniques to more advanced watercolor effects.
Participants must bring own supplies. Supplies can be found at
Michaels, Ogden Blue or online art stores such as dickblick.com
Supply list:
watercolor brushes-bring what ever sizes that fit your needs.

If you're not afraid to get your hands and clothes messy, come
learn the basics of handbuilding and wheel throwing. Learn how to
build dishes or sculptures with slabs of clay and to throw bowls,
vases, and mugs on the wheel. Participants must bring own basic
ceramic tool kit or buy one from me for ten dollars.
Director: Gary Griffenhagen (Former St. Joseph Boys and Girls tennis team Head Coach)
Camp Intro: the St. Joseph's Tennis Camp is both an introduction to
tennis for the beginners as well as a follow-up for those who are
intermediates and/or have take a class/es before. (the Camp may be able
to accommodate serious junior players, if 3-4 or more sign-up; please
let Mr. Salvo know if you are in this category). The Camp will work
through the basic strokes including forehand, backhand, volley,
overhead, serve, and return of serve. The Camp staff will also
demonstrate proper footwork, court movement and court positioning. The
Camp will feature drills and games, and if warranted, some competitive
play to practice and to use the strokes taught and basic footwork.
Intermediate players will have a greater emphasis on strategy, court
positioning, footwork, etc. The Camp Director is Gary Griffenhagen, the
current Head Girls and Boys coach at St. Joseph's. Mr. Griffenhagen has
taught classes at the Ogden Athletic Club this past year and he feels
his knowledge and understanding of the sport has increased
significantly. He will have 2-3 former or current St. Joseph Varsity
players as assistants. The Camp can also accommodate any 8th grader
interested in trying out for the St. Joseph teams or area Public schools next season.
What the camper needs to bring? Tennis gear, racket and water.

Boys/Girls Basketball Camp
Director: Coach Joe Cravens (Former Weber State University Men Coach)
The Saint Joseph Basketball Camp will be conducted by former Weber State and Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year Joe Cravens.
Coach Cravens is a 30 years veteran of Division I College Basketball coaching. He has developed camps and clinics all over Europe and Asia.
In this camp there will be a strong emphases on individual player development . This will be a very "hands on" teaching environment. "Old school" fundamentals will be strongly stressed.
There will be doing repetation on footwork, ball handling skills and shooting.

The camp will focus on "Old School" fundamentals. A big emphasis will be made on footwork, dribbling, passing and shooting.
The camp will be conducted in a very hands on manner with a lot of individual attention given to each camper

Television Production Camp
Director: Alex Salvo (Television Production teacher at St. Joseph and Azteca America TV producer)
Campers will learn:
* How to use and read telepromters
* How to use studio cameras and portable video cams
* How to use chroma-key
* How to operate and use a video controler switcher
* How to operate and use a sound mixer
* How to edit commercials, PSA and News stories with Final Cut
* How to direct a newscast
* How to use lights and microphones
* How to be a TV anchor
* How to burn and produce DVDs using IDVD
* Weather reports
* How to run a TV newscast
The camp will provide all studio materials, but the camper MUST bring 5 DVDs to burn his/her work.
Location: Saint Joseph Catholic High School's Television Studio
DANCE: Camp will consist introduce a variety of
dance styles including jazz, ballet, hip hop, and creative. Dancers will
learn proper dance technique and fun routines. Classes will work on a
performance piece for the end of camp. Fun crafts and games!!!
What the campers should bring? The camper should bring the appropriate dance gear and shoes.
Location: The camp will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic High School's Dance studio.
Cheer: Beginning Cheerleading will consist of jumps, cheers, tumbling, and
stunting. Fun sideline routines and will be taught and pom poms will be
included for all campers. Lots of fun!!
Campers will participate in a dynamic, fun-filled program combining dance, jump, cheers & chants. Girls aged 6-16.
What to bring? The camper should bring sport gear and shoes.
Location: The cheer camp will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic High School's Dance Studio
1st Camp June 7 & 8 (9:00 am to 11:00 am), 2nd camp June 21 & 22 (9:00 am to 11:00 am)
FEES: $46 for mom and one kid (Additional kids is $10 for each)

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY ,
BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE
Level: Beginner to Intermediate
This
photography workshop will introduce campers to the fundamentals of
digital photography, with an emphasis on understanding the cameras’
capabilities and exploring those capabilities through field exercises.
The session will cover photography in a variety of situations (portrait,
landscape, wildlife, action, night shots) and provide campers with the
technical knowledge — including the rules of composition, how to achieve
clear focus and proper exposure, and how to use the flash and a tripod —
that can help them take their photography to the next level.
Additionally,
campers will be briefly acquainted with editing techniques and software
for use in post-production, and they will learn about options for
creating an online portfolio of their work.
Requirements:
Campers
must bring their own digital camera, preferably with a cable to connect
it to a computer. A digital SLR camera is acceptable but not required —
less advanced digital cameras including point-and-shoot cameras should
have the option to adjust basic settings, including aperture and shutter
speed.

Golf Camp --- For beginners and golfers wishing to improve
on their current game.
Day 1 --- We will discuss the basics of golf
from the golf swing, grip, stance, putting and chipping, the rules of golf, physical
fitness and golf etiquette. Driving range and putting green.
Day 2 --- Warm up exercises for the golfer. Apply the techniques learned on Day 1 on the
driving range and putting green. Short
iron practice. More rules!
Day 3 ---
Warm up exercises. Range practice – all
clubs. Play 9 holes. This day the camp will begin at 10:30 am and will end at 1:30 pm
Day 4
--- Short exam to see what you
learn. Warm up, range balls, Play 9
holes. After golf questions and answer
session.
What to bring? Golf
clubs and carry bag – pull cart if you desire.

EXTRA FEES: The green fees are $8.00 (reduced fee) for each participant and are paid to the golf course for each day (2 days)
Please make sure that the camper bring a check
payable to Toad's or you can call them in advance to pay
with a credit card.
Unlimited Bucket of golf balls for each participants and it will be paid by the camp.
Girls/Boys Volleyball Camp
Director: Ray Franklin (St. Joseph Volleyball Team Head Coach)
Volleyball Skills Clinic: 6 to 16 year olds
Passing, setting, hitting, serving, blocking & transitions.
The first half of each day on skill development and techniques.
The second half will be spent on actual game like situations and play.
ACT Preparation and test skills
Instructors: Rose Mary Kelly (Psychologist and Hypnotherapy) and Connor Letender
Material: Workbook: Each student must purchase "The Real ACT prep guide-second or third
edition" and bring it to the class the first day. You can purchase the
workbook at Barnes and Nobel.
Course: The class focus in preperating and making the student familiar with the ACT test. The instructor will focus in the English and Math are of the test. Also, a session on how to deal with test anxiety and to use the correct side of the brain to accuire better testing skills.
Schedule: Monday trough Friday, from 8:30 to 11:30 am (Two weeks)
